Plant Nursery Assistant

Full Time - Permanent Contract

40 Hours per week

Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications

Location - Giants Seat Garden Centre & Nursery, M26 1EW

As we prepare for another season at Giants Seat, we are looking to expand as we head into 2027. After an extremely successful year with new ownership and a new team, we want to continue to grow and solidify the great work we do here at the nursery. It’s important to all of us that we find not only individuals with commitment to nursery life, but people with the right attitude who are excited to be apart of our growing journey together.

Note: This role requires outdoor work in a nursery and greenhouse environment. This is a physically demanding role that will include exposure to all weather conditions

The ideal candidate will have:

A strong knowledge, enthusiasm and/or experience working in the horticultural industry
The ability to work in a physically demanding role, with the ability to work in varying climate conditions as greenhouses can often be hot and humid
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management skills

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Growing, managing and maintaining plants on site including watering and feeding
Monitoring of pests and diseases, including occasional pest and disease management
Ability to care for plants including deadheading and pruning when required
Helping and advising customers with their questions, concerns, and providing advice on plant care. Spending time in our retail area, working on the till
General management and organisation of growing space, including the rotation of plants at different stages of growth
Liaising with other members of the team to ensure smooth operations across site
General site maintenance (jet washing, repairs and fixtures, working with tools, weeding, etc)
